Season 2 Episode 9: Haunted China

Haunted China

November 14, 1995
One night in November of 1995 in Beijing’s Haidian District, a man boarded the last bus to Fragrant Hills. After boarding the vehicle he noticed three pale-faced men enter the bus in long, old-fashioned robes. Thinking that these men were actors the man thought nothing much of the new visitors and soon forgot that the men were there at all.

As the bus continued on its journey, all the passengers except for the man, and old woman, and the three robed actors had gotten off the bus. Abruptly, the old woman started screaming at the man and declared that he had stolen her wallet. This commotion caused the bus driver to kick both parties off of the bus, leaving them both stranded.
The man was furious at the old woman for he had not touched her belongings. Calmly, the elderly woman explained that the three men on the bus had no legs under the robes and therefore were ghosts and that the bus was headed for danger.

The following morning the bus declared missing and three days later the remains of the vehicle were found. Inside the bus the police made a startling discovery…

Season 2 Episode 3: The Vetala

The Vetala

1870

Sir Richard Burton, a famous British explorer and writer, had just returned from India with a new book full of various tales and stories he had heard while abroad. The book, Vikram and the Vampire, contained several stories of a devilish trickster demon known as “The Vetala”. This demonic half man half bat hybrid had sunken eyes, large wings made of skin, and sharp teeth and claws. In addition to its malevolent appearance, the Vetala could also impose its will on others and walk up and down walls.

Burton, content with his achievement in compiling these stories and writing his book, had no idea what he had just set in motion for the future of macabre storytelling. Season 2 Episode 2: The Paris Catacombs

The Paris Catacombs

Early 1990’s

Underneath the sprawling streets of Paris, France lies something very macabre indeed: over 200 sprawling miles of human remains.

The Paris Catacombs are the single largest grave site in the world. Beginning in 1774, the Catacombs were built out of necessity; The amount of dead bodies lining the streets of Paris were becoming overwhelming and with no place to put the bodies the only resort was to create the sprawling labyrinth of death.

In the modern day, the Catacombs have become a hot tourist attraction and place for thrill seekers to explore. Unfortunately, exploring does not always go as planned. In the early 90s a video tape was found deep within the catacombs, a film depicting a man sprinting through hall after hall of the Catacombs, until he finally drops the camcorder and vanishes into the darkness. This video leaves us with many questions: Who was this man? Why would he drop his only source of light? And most importantly…
