Every community has its own version of undead - some have Zombies, others Revenants, but for the majority of Eastern Europe, there were Vampires.
Unfortunately, the Vampire title was one that was easily attributed to the outcasts of the time. Women who could not conceive, for example, were often believed to have made a pact with demonic forces and were tried as Vampires.
