In the 1970s, it was common to be a “latch-key” kid - someone who could be gone from their home unsupervised while their parents worked. The fear of kidnappings, robberies, or worse was not in the American zeitgeist at the time.
Unfortunately for three children in Rochester NY, this freedom to be out alone would lead to their murders. As haunting as that is, what’s even eerier is the fact that every victim had something in common…
