Elisa Lam and The Cecil Hotel

The Cecil Hotel is an epicenter of macabre happenings since its initial construction in 1924. Decades of suicide, murder, and crime haunt the 700 room hotel, which is known today as the “Stay On Main Hotel and Hostel”, including the death of college student Elisa Lam.
On January 31st, 2013, Lam failed to contact her parents as she was traveling abroad and staying at the Cecil. Her parents, concerned for their daughter safety, called the Los Angeles Police Department and reported Elisa missing. Soon after her disappearance, hotel guests began to complain of strange and foul tasting water in their sinks and showers and low water pressure. This eventually lead investigators to a place that only the hotel staff had access to and unfortunately the grim discovery of Elisa’s body…
