Sometime in 1817, John Bell, The Patriarch of the Bell family, made a large land purchase in Adams Tennessee. Shortly after this purchase, Bell was strolling his property with his rifle when he came upon a horrific sight. An animal had stepped out of the woods to meet him during his walk, however the animal was unlike anything humans had seen before; it had the body of a dog but the head of a rabbit. Bell fired at the animal but by the time he could check his aim, the animal had vanished.

Shortly thereafter the Bell family began experiencing strange paranormal phenomenon. Loud hangings on their walls, sheets being ripped off as they slept, hair being pulled and skin being pinched. It is said that the spirit of old Kate Batts, a neighbor who John had swindled in his land purchase, was the demon possessing the home.

But where do these hauntings end? Do they fade with time? Is there a ritual the family must complete to rid their home of this poltergeist? Or is it something far worse…

On arrival, the crew and relief keeper found that the flagstaff had no flag, all of the usual provision boxes had been left on the landing stage for re-stocking, and more ominously, none of the lighthouse keepers were there to welcome them ashore. Furthermore, food had been prepared, bad weather gear such as rain jackets were left unused, and all the clocks had ceased to function.

The weather forecasts for the previously recorded days showed nothing but clear skies however in the keepers log just three days prior an interesting entry had been add “severe winds the likes of which I have never seen before in twenty years.”. Without any further evidence the question remains….

What happened to the lighthouse keepers?

She gave her father forty-one"
